Coronary angioplasty (PCI) is performed under local anaesthesia through a small catheter in the wrist or groin. Using advanced fluoroscopy, the interventional cardiologist positions a balloon and, where necessary, a drug-eluting stent to restore normal blood flow. Most patients are discharged within 24–48 hours.
